Charlie always felt that when he was with Sam. With Catherine, there was no doubt she had been beautiful. He always felt like she’d married down.

Then, with Abigale, she wore down his masculinity, making him question if he was ever worthy of love.

With Sam, he just felt adored.

He felt precious.

That was something he’d always missed. Sam loved him for him, even if he was just some backwoods hick sheriff who made questionable choices.

“How about we start this with some shower sex?” he asked, knowing that the walls were kind of thin. The last thing he wanted was Sam shouting out his name, and Chris and Elizabeth hearing them.

They could hear the news playing from next door, and that meant his daughter and her beau were there.

Sam was good with that. Anywhere this man put his hands was going to be welcome.

He could bet on that.

His thoughts and words were cut off when Charlie yanked him against his body and found his mouth all over again.

There was no doubt that someone was aroused.
